Band!! Dont give up!!
These days I have been going back to Canberra to do some 'charitable' work. There is no money issues in it but I just go back do some visiting. The Band... That's what I'm talking about. Whenever I think of th Band and the up-coming NDP, I realised that the Band is not up to the standard of performing. I dont know why I would think such a negative way. It seems like everyone are still in their individual world, especially the Secondary 1s. Although all the Secondary 1s are not playing the music pieces but do the marching, the seniors are. What's worst??!! The seniors are not playing their best. I do see some of them playing their best effort but how about the rest? I really dont wish to see rotten apples in the Band. A rotten apple doesnt mean it will affect the rest. Just cut the part that is rotten and the apple is still edible. There is room for improvement. Seriously!! I hope all the Band members, whether you are new or old, I think all of you can achieve better.
Compared to Wednesday's standard of play to today's, I think today's performance is better. Although I shouted a few times, which is the scary part for some of you, I didnt mean to do that. I wanted to be strict so that you all would wake up. Maybe some of you would think that I'm acting, I'm actually not. It really makes me go mad when I see the Band is underachieving. Not marching properly, not turning at the right time, wrong notes and many many more. If this is what I get from the Band, then I think I have gone to the wrong Band. I always keep things to myself in Band and you people can see that I'm smiling all the time. However, when it comes to serious matters, I think I would be the one to blow up first. Hate me? Like my character? You decide.
After Mdm Tan left Band, we can see that the attendance is going down. When I mean down, it is to the extreme. To me, if Mdm Tan is gone and the teachers' naggings is not good enough, well, I will step up for that. Stand up! Speak up! That's the way I treat the Band in order to make the motivation to go on. I wish that everyone can play your part in the Band. I heard from some people that they feel 'sian' about the Band. I dont know whether it's real anot since I only come back on Fridays. Maybe I would be coming back again. I need to see my shedule when the next semester starts. If my Fridays are occupied, I cant come back anymore. That simple. By that time, I would be the one shouting all the Band members. It will be the Secondary 4s to do that. Rui Xiang, Ridwan, Nadira, Melissa, Yvonne, Chelsea, Fiona and many many more. Please... If I cant make it for Band next semester, do help to ensure that the Band's standards are not dropping. Please...
Today, I see that the Band has the potential to make the impossibe possible. My expectations on the Band is really high. I wanted all correct notes to be played. No screeching to be heard from the clarinets and no wrong movements while marching. This is what my mind is thinking. However, in reality, its hard to maintain that. I was a Band member before. I know that not everything is what you expect! I mean, it not only happen in Band but in my life. I want things in this way but it turn out to be different. That's how my life is... Sounds stupid but true. After explaining my expectations, you know why I'm mad with all of you just now? The marching is atrocious and the music was awful. However, marching is quite alright now. To me, we are not ideal in marching but as Band members, music wise, we must be good. From distance, I cant hear the music clearly. It is sometimes soft, sometimes loud. Its not the exact thing that the music scores want or Mr Lee wants. So, I hope all of you, maybe some of you, who read this blog, can tell your sections to buck up. 2 DAYS to the actual thing (practises) I hope everyone would give your very best in it.
What I say in Band is true. This Band, is really my second home, my family... In the past, Band is like an ordinary CCA but as years go by, I realised that Band mates are my 'kins' and the Mr Lee is the 'Lao Da'(boss) that guide us to success. I admit in front of everyone, saying I'm bad in my music playing, as well as marching. This is why, I wish everyone can be better, better than me. Prove it to me. I dont talk big in front of all of you because I can do better than all of you or play better. Dont believe, you can ask Khuzaima from Tuba section!! I always ask her ridiculous questions on the music scores. She always say, 'Wei Teck!!! You are our senior and you dont know...??!!' Sounds so strange but it's the fact. I dont wish everyone would be like me. Got it?? Band... wake up!!
To be honest, there are some good comments... and bad comments about the Band. People claimed that the Band marching is better than the Boys Brigade... Okay... That's sounds good but on Monday, you people still need to maintain it. Dont be COMPLACENT!!! Now, the bad comment... There's a claim that says that the Band is getting bad to worst... Why bother to help them... To me, when I heard that, the first thing I want to do is to defend for all of you. Like what I said, you people are like my family... However, come to think of it, I can dont give a hack about the Band but I dont do that. So, dont ever give up! I didnt give up on you people so you cant give up on the Band, on me and the teachers... especially Mr Lee.. Got it?? Hope all of you understand... haix... I hope...
