After a few days not blogging, I realised that I should do something with my blog. That is why I have decided to blog about the ASEAN Cup Semi finals between Singapore and Malaysia. As usual, the rivalry between the two countries started way back before I was born so its a long history indeed. Anyway, just an update about the first-leg at Shah Alam Staium, Malaysia, the score was 1-1. Malaysia was the first to score, which was actually a cross but turn out to be a lob for Lional Lewis. However, with the Lions still have the time to fight back, Alam Shah scored with a brilliant header and hit past the helpless Malaysian goalie. As the match continue, disaster strikes as tackles were flying over. The worst thing Singapore fans would fear was a red card shown on our veteran defender and captain, Aide. Some said its because he fake an injury, resulting to time wasting. Some commented that he stepped over the line and enter the pitch without permission, thus was send off.
Although, it was a double yellow, it was a huge price to pay by Singapore if Malaysia scores again. However, they didnt. With injury time aprroaching, the referee of the game was making weird and ridiculous decisions, just to make sure the corner flag is up. Weird... That's what I could see from the television set that night. With a frustrating mood after seeing the red card shown to our players.
Anyway, yesterday's stadium trip was quite good. I bought the tickets last minute at the National Stadium during the early afternoon. It was lucky for me to get the tickets as I thought they were sold out. I bought 4 tickets; for Glenn, Oliver, Aloy and me, of course. It was a tiring thing to do since I was having insufficient sleep these days, busying with projects and CCA. i bought the ticket at 2 pm and went back home. I reached home around 4 plus, which means I spend a total of 2 hours travelling. No comments about that but it was a good thing that I could take a fast nap before going to the stadium.
I met Glenn and gang at Northpoint and we head towards Kallang to the National Stadium. I didnt know that the Indoor Stadium has S.H.E Concert. Haha... I wonder if Jack did went there to support his idols, as well as Jackson. Haha... Back to the story, we were outside the stadium around 7 plus and we went in. However, Oliver was having stomach problems that I really felt like beating him up. He knows that there is no way to enter the toilet and yet he had a stomachache once we entered the stadium. No choice. I was angry but I must be patient. Well, at least he didnt do it purposely to test my patience or he will be dead. Haha.. Kidding... Kids.. What can I do with them??!!
After the toilet issue, we went to find a seat to watch the match. Seriously, if you want to watch a good match in the stadium, seat in the middle row which you can see the action between the 2 goal posts. However, I sat at the corner, which could see the 2 sides but a different angle thats all. 8pm arrives and everyone started to scream for their players. I was my first time in such a match so I just join in the crowd. First, the Kallang wave, again and again, never ending. After that, the National Anthem. We sing with pride. Lastly, cheers and support, as well as boos and insults to our opponents in the game. Chances were there but Singapore was unable to take a lead. After the first half, it was 0-0. Alright, I was still happy with the result but when second half comes, things turn out to be a bit better.
A volley from Malaysia which Lionel Lewis had tried to stop but end up entering the net, due to his failure to push the ball out. Singapore fans were quiet by then and Malaysia fans were screaming with joy. Singapore fans were unhappy but dont worry, no riots occured. However, racial chants came out that would make you laugh. Then, Singapore scores a goal with a tap-in. The whole stadium went berserk, with the Lion supporters roaring. The whole stadium was filled with 55000 people and 5000 of them are showing their support for the Singapore team. To me, it was a good thing for Singapore to score a goal as you are losing in a match. However, I didnt expect them to play a better game after they had conceded. -.-" What the... They should use the chance to kill Malaysia off but they didnt. Soon, 90 minutes was over and extra time is played.
The Lions created numerous changes but failed to score. Shi Jia Yi had a volley but went wild. Precious did a marvellous long shot from the 40 yards, which nearly went into the net but was tip off by the Malaysian goalie. With no one scoring at the extra time, we went to penalties. Slowly one by one, team Singapore shoots the ball in. Shi Jia Yi was lucky as his shoot was saved by the goalie but with a bad handling, the ball went into the net. In the end, Lionel Lewis was the man who collects the ball safely from the Malaysian player and Singapore won the penalties by 6-5. Haha.. The whole stadium went bersark once again with everyone cheering loudly. After the match, everyone who was leaving the stadium was singing a song to them; 'Nah Nah Nah Nah! Nah Nah Nah Nah! Hey Yea Yea! Goodbye!...' Haha... From one person to the whole crowd in the stadium. Malaysia fans seems to be not in the mood for such things but seriously, thanks for your support then. Smile...
That wasnt the bad thing about it. Kenneth told me earlier that the Malaysian who told the last penalty was Zul's friend. Asking what would happen to him now after his miss on the penalty, Zul said that he might be able to have a nice sleep for the next 2 months or so... Haha... Poor guy. Anyway... With a great ending, Singapore won the match with penalties to end the controversal rivalry. With a step further to the ASEAN Cup, we are now in the finals. Let's hope we could do it one last time... Haha.. Singapore Singapore GO GO GO!
