National Stadium...
With more than a few decades of history, the National Stadium, or I should put it as OUR National Stadium, is finally closing. Its nothing to be amazed, sad or happy. Its just a normal event which would help one to have his or her mind filled with many memories. Yes, history was created in this arena and that night, 30th June 2007, is where history is made and we are part of the history.
Eugene and I met up to watch the last match in the stadium. By the time we reached the stadium, it was nearly 7pm. I feel so sorry for Eric and his cousin for waiting the both of us for nearly an hour. My bad!! Sorry!! Anyway, I actually wanted invite Eric to join us for the match but didnt expect that he was having a birthday celebration with his cousin. Since it was his cousin's birthday, he brought him along to watch the match. I mean, it was not a bad idea to have someone to celebrate his birthday at a place with 55000 people, with a wonderful match to be played between Singapore and Australia.
In the end, Eric and his cousin were sitting at a different location with Eugene and me, due to the different locations our tickets were. Anyway, once we got a good spot to settle down, I begin my 'lunch' for the day. Eugene was having his sushi while I add my chocolate cake. The match started at 7.30pm and Singapore was having the best chances to score. One of the greatest miss was Indra's header, which connects to the ball but the ball hits the post. The whole crowd went bersark after watching the scene. Eugene and I were yelling like mad.
Half-time started and I met Eric to buy some food outside the stadium since Eric was hungry. We started to join the queue that sells some nasi lemak but when it was nearly our turn to buy the food, the table doesnt have any food at all. What's left behind are green chilli!!! Just look at the disgusted face of Eric tells me that a hungry man would be angry if he's not properly fed. Luckily, Eugene had bought a spare piece of burger and he gave one to Eric. Haha...Happy eating...
Second half begins and Australia scored back 3 goals. 2 headers from mark Viduka and 1 from Kewell. I do support Singapore for the game but seriously, we didnt manage to control our defence. The best part was the crowd in the stadium. If Singapore missed the ball, everyone would moan. However, once Australia scores a goal, the whole stadium would cheer. I guess its because the players who scored are from the English Premier League. Haha... Especially when Hary Kewell scores, it was a amazing shot, slotting the ball into the right side of Lionel Lewis with a right foot shot. The whole stadium just cheer when they heard from the commentator. "Australia 2, Singapore 0! And the scorer for the 2nd goal is Harry Kewell!!" That caused the roar in the stadium... LOL!!!
The match ended and there comes the closing ceremony. Fireworks did displayed and I managed to video it. I think I will put it in Youtube if possible but first, I need to figure out how am I suppose to get the pictures and videos out from the camera that I borrowed from V.J.. I hate to do such stuff since I was a noob towards digital cameras and taking good shots, unlike V.J., Reeza and Vincent, who are the talented ones in Canberra. Well, once the match is over, we took a few more photos before taking a bus back to Yishun and buy oursleves Nasi Lemak as dinner before heading home. By then, I was too tired to do anything. Haha... I recieved cramps in the morning and lack of sleep for the week. Haha...
Say goodbye to National Stadium and say hi to the new Sports Hub. I cant wait to see the facilities of the Sports Hub but I guess, it would be suitable for sports lovers...
