My Weekend... Soccer Competition and Standard Chartered Marathon
I really wish to type this post a few days back but it seems that time permits me to do so. Well, at least with V.J.'s lappy with me for now, I can type out a post while I'm in the bus or train to school. Well, Saturday and Sunday was a total hell for me but at least, I still survive it. That's because I was taking part in the school's Soccer Tournament and then Sunday, Standard Chartered Marathon.
Since I'm still young, which maybe some might think I'm old enough now, I just took part in the 2 activities. The Standard Chartered Marathon was Shuai Xun and mine's idea to take part. A distance of 10km was enough to kill our bodies. While for the Soccer Tournament, organised in NYP, it was just a fun game to take part that's all. I was passionate towards soccer for the past few years but seriously, it really feels uncomfortable for not playing soccer with my group of friends for the past few weeks due to the exhasution I've got throughout my attachment.
Let me roll the dice and start about Saturday's event! Well, I reached school around 9am and guess what, our 1st match was at 10am. I didnt got the chance to play much as I was a substitute for the 1st game. When I came onto the pitch, it was just for me to run around the field and there goes the final whistle. LOL!! That was fast, I thought.
As we fought ourselves to reach the finals, the matches that we were playing were getting tougher than before. We were trying our best to win the match but it seems to be difficult. I wasnt playing my best in the 2nd match, probably I was too nervous. Its because I was part of the team's first seven to play in the match. Missed a few chances, as well as creating opportunities for my teammates to get the ball. It was indeed a frustrating game.
We managed to play our way to the finals, thanks to the penalties that we had to go through as it remains a draw in the match. Luckily, there is Zulfadli, our 2nd star goalie, saving all the crucial shots from the penalty takers. While the rest of the team did a great job to pressurise our opponents. For instance, Raymond was saying "Can you score against the keeper? He's a national player. You sure your shot can go past through him?" Haha... Nice one Raymond, at least your antics did work after all.
In the end, we reached the finals but ended up losing 4-1. I played the 1st half but not the 2nd as I think the rest of the teammates should have a chance to play too. I guess they said I was playing well in the finals and I should not substitute myself out. Haix... Well, what's over is over, and I guess, we still win the overall tournament with a Silver medal. Well done guys!!
Standard Chartered was the next day, which I admit that I didnt have enough sleep. I took a cab down to Shuai Xun's house and stay and guess what, I woke up at 3am as Daryl's event was in a total mess. Why??!! Why must I be the middleman of the project?? Guess I gonna whack him upside down during the post motem...
Auntie Emily's message was a big boost for me, especially when you are not yet running but someone messages you at 6am to wish you all the best. Thanks alot!! At that time, Shuai Xun and I were buying our pizza and red bull to boost our energy. We were dead hungry and guess what, Shuai Xun pressed the wrong button of the oven, with our pizzas expected to be heated up within 3 seconds!! LOL!!! That was a mistake... Haha...
The run begins and Shuai Xun, James Tan and I were running together. At the beginning, we were all alright till we reached 4km, when Shuai Xun was having a bit difficulty with the run. James and I were still relaxing and we were running and chatting at the same time right from the start till we reaced 5km. Nice try... He ended up running off first to achieve his target timing while I stayed behind to give Shuai Xun some support. I accompanied him all the way to the 10km mark and guess what, we ended together with the same timing, approximately 1 hour 14 minutes.
I didnt hit my best timing for that day but Shuai Xun did improved. He's happy and I'm happy for him. While for me, I was quite sad but still glad that I did managed to run the whole race and no sore pains on my thigh muscles. Haha... I wanted to sprint but too bad, I need to wait for Shuai Xun. Never mind, there's Syenergy organised by the school's Adventure Club this coming Saturday, hope Kenny and I will win something... LOL!!
2 medals in 2 days... I really like the feeling. Although one shows a team achievement while the other is an individual achievement, I guess its the effort that counts to get what we want in mind. Never give up is the key to success but seriously, I guess sleep is the better word to describe what I really need these days after taking 2 competitions in 2 days... Shagged... ~.~
