Charity Soccer 2008 - Details...
Charity Soccer had just ended a few days ago and our team got 3rd. We had the highest goal difference but yet we still got 3rd as we lost the rest in points. Well, I was there early in the morning to help out in the refereeing and I was suffering a slight cramp on my right calf that morning. I thought I was just nervous or I did not have sufficient fluid in my body. Well, I was wrong as it stayed on throughout the games I played.
Our first match started at 11am and we lost 1-0. We were against team Ridwan but it was our team’s mistake that lead to that goal. Well, the second match was better, which boost our morale with a convincing 4-0 win. Jack, Sheng, Eugene and I managed to score a goal each against Mr Sham son’s team. Nice job by everyone. =]
We make narrow wins after that against teams like Bala’s; 2-0 win; and Nizam; 1-0 win. However, we lost to Alex’s team, this time, another mistake by our teammates. It was Alex who scored the crucial goal, which cost us 3 points but no matter what happens, we still need to face it. We are playing as a team and communication was not enough. Yet, we still think that we did well in our defense against a strong team like Alex.
The last game was against Aidi, the pioneers of Canberra Secondary, also my seniors. All I could say is that they are the champions for the whole tournament but they can’t beat us, for consecutive 3 years in a row. The first time we against them, we won by 2-1. The second year was 1-0 and this year, we won by 2-0 margin. I was their cult star, with me scoring against them for the past 3 years. The first year with a penalty, second came with a shot between the goalie’s legs and this year, a tap-in thanks to Jack’s pass. I managed to add on the margin with another goal by Jack, by passing the ball to him as the goalie and the defender clashed together. It was pass that went through the small gap that allows Jack to slot the ball in.
We got 3rd but at least, we still did it again, winning something back. Although the trophy looks nice, made of glass, it looks weird as it is being fixed in an unbalance way. Well, maybe I can put the picture the next time if I’m free. Alright, this year’s hard work is shown. Next year, we will get stronger. However, how many of us will still be playing together as a team? I don’t know. I might be in my National Service by then… Haix…
