My Injury - The Pain, Rehab and Progress...
Not long ago, I suffered from some injury while performing some running. It was a pretty bad injury as I twisted my right ankle while performing an action. The right ankle just gave way to my weight and “crack~!!” was the sound that made my body went jelly straight away. The pain was felt from my ankle to my tibialis anterior, and by the time I was able to manage the pain, I realized that I could not walk properly anymore. Bearing the pain all the way to perform my sports, it was really a tough time as I tested my endurance towards the pain. By the end of the day, my ankle was swollen and I had to visit the Chinese practitioner to do something with my ankle.
When I visit the practitioner the next day, the first comment he gave me make me laugh at myself for a few seconds. The following is how the conversation goes.
Practitioner: Hi, so you are Wei De (伟德) is it? So what is the problem?Me: Hi, I actually sprained my ankle last night while running and it hurt from my ankle area to my tibialis.Practitioner: Oh… Base on your records, you have sprained your ankle before. Which ankle had you sprained?Me: Er… Well, it’s the right ankle.Practitioner: Hmm… It’s been 2 years since you came back. It seems like both cases are related to your ankles. You remember the last injury is which ankle?Me: Yeah, the left one…Practitioner: Yes! 2 years ago, it was the left. Today, it is the right. You really want to make both ankles to be balanced, with both injured?!Me: Haha! (Laugh…)Well, and that is how the entire treatment starts to begin. Asking me a few questions, he will make a sudden movement to my ankle, cracking it without my acknowledgement. Shocked but to be honest, it is good that I don’t scream like the previous time where I caused a lady outside the treatment room to hear my screams and end up crying as she’s a first timer to this practice. Haha… Well, at least I was much braver than before.
Now, my ankle is much better. Recovered but still, you get to feel that it is very loose and it might snap again at anytime if I make a stupid movement. Well, that is the hazards of sports but I guess, I must take note of my actions for not doing too impulsive movements that may result to another injury again. Relax… That’s what I need to tell myself, whether I attempted to tackle someone during soccer the next time.
